And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. (Matthew 20:30 KJV)
God will have mercy once we ask for it.
Jesus had just completed a parable teaching before his journey up to Jerusalem. As he was departing with his disciples, the passage under review today tells us that two blind men called out to him for MERCY. The multitude of people around were rebuking them, but this didn't stop their persistent cries for MERCY.
Jesus hears their cries and approaches them and asks - "What will ye that I shall do unto you?" Matthew 20:32
Having made their request to the master, Jesus had compassion on them. "Matthew 20:34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him."
Just as Jesus performed this miracle on the two men - he is itchy to perform a miracle in your life too. If there is a lesson we can learn from the blind men, it is this - Don't Stop Asking God for What You Want. Be Persistent!
You are not bothering him. You are not hegging him. You are not being a pest. If it's mercy you want - then it's mercy you'll get once you ask. Take your situation before the Lord and continue to do so. In his time, he will come through for you for he is MERCIFUL!
Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. (Isa 59:1)
