The Tables Will Soon Turn

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den. (Daniel 6:24 KJV)

Are you sometimes tempted to take matters into your own hands when people harass you? - Don't!

The tables will one day turn. Very, very, very soon!

Much of the conversations with young people, both male and female, have to do with discouraging them from taking matters into their own hands. Just this week past, a young lady, with her young child in her hand, had to be encouraged not to let the quarrel between the two turn into a fight.

My words to her were, "take it cool, take it light, things will work out." I believe I can very well understand her rage inside, for at times we all feel like that when we are harassed and stressed out by others trying to keep us down or humiliate us.

There is a lesson that we can all learn from Daniel when people rose up against him. His simple solution to the problem was to PRAY. When Daniel prayed, he didn't get an answer immediately. The King didn't revoke his decree instantly. It took some time and Daniel Never Stopped Praying. God allowed him to reach to a near death experience before showing up and delivering.

The point here is - "God didn't leave his child to suffer and die - He Came to his Rescue."

He will do the very same for you in the middle of your deepest trial. Don't Stop Praying! Be like Daniel, Don't Give Up!

I like this part of the story very much. The king sent for those who wanted to do Daniel harm, along with their families and fed them to the lions. What a sumptuous meal. What does this mean for you as a believer? You need not take matters into your own hands. Sooner or later, your enemies will be destroyed - Sooner or later the Tables will Turn.

God will take care of your enemies while you stand still and look on.

Keep your head on and your hopes up!

Becareful With What You Put In

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
(Philippians 4:8 KJV)

I sometimes wish that my vehicle would run off water instead of gas. I’m sure you understand just what I mean.

The frightening thing about putting water into a vehicle, is that it probably wouldn’t function well again  or function at all and you’ll let thousands of dollars slide down the drain. Thus, as drivers, we must be careful with what we put in.

We should also have this same attitude towards our lives. If we do, there would be a constant flow of positive results. Paul and Timotheous wrote to the church at Phillipi. In the book of Philippians, they give some powerful, lasting advice that we all should take to heart.

They remind us that just how we program our radios, televisions and phones to yield the results we want, we should do likewise to our minds. Instead of giving up on life and walking around like you are carrying the world on your shoulders, they both recommend that we should.

“think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of a good report.”

I took time to examine and re-examine that particular scripture as I studied it before writing. What I learnt is that all of those things that we are encouraged to focus our minds on are POSITIVE.

What is the lesson to be learnt here? What we put and take in our minds is just what we’ll get out. When we feed the positive thoughts and scriptures into our mind and soul, when we ensure we hang around positive people, when we shun doubters, we would be able to pull out the appropriate word at opportune times.

When we feed our minds rubbish, during times of trials and testing, we won’t be able to pull anything from inside our heart to encourage us because – Rubbish in – Rubbish Out.

Set your minds on the positive and soon you’ll be soaring with the eagles.

Be Filled With Joy

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:12 KJV)

We should be ALWAYS  JOYFUL!

I did something different this morning. I went for a walk with a friend who had a cute little puppy. As we walked and talked, the puppy could be seen running back and forth, sometimes stopping by our feet and playing. It was living up to the old saying, "as playful as a puppy." It was happy and joyful.

I thought for a moment and concluded, "This is the type of JOY that God wants his children to have."

The prophet Isaiah in penning the passage of scripture under review today, uses a poetic style of language that puts the reader directly in the middle of a life filled with peace, joy and excitement. This is the life that God wants ALL believers to have

He longs for us to recognize that once we have enough faith in him, we would be set free - released from our bondages. Peace will reign triumphant in our lives. There would be continuous rejoicing which would spread abroad to all those around.

God wants us to be so happy and JOYFUL that even the trees will clap their hands and celebrate with us and the hills and mountains will catch on and start singing.

You have a choice to make today. Continue to be depressed and carry your own burdens OR cast them all on Jesus, trust him as Lord of your life and move forward with HIGH  HOPES as you aim to BE  ALWAYS  FILLED  WITH  JOY like the little puppy at the beginning of our devotional.

Keep on Toiling

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. (Lu 5:4-6 KJV)

Don’t Give Up Now – Keep on Toiling!

Have you ever been on a long fishing trip alone or with a friend or group and caught nothing? To tell the truth – I have. The feeling isn’t good at all.

I can still hear the words of my then Youth Leader – “Nothing Yet? Nothing Yet?” with a little chuckle under his voice.

This was the case with Simon Peter. He and his team had been out for a long time and had come back to shore and were washing their nets having caught NOTHING. After Jesus had finished teaching from the boats, he gives some instructions to the boat owner – LAUNCH  OUT.

This was a weird statement to Simon, from the mouth of Jesus. I love Simon’s response though.

“Nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net”

The passage of scripture tells us that after his obedience, he caught so many fishes, he had to call for help.

There is a lesson for us as readers. You can’t stop toiling now – there is a great reward for you after you launch out and keep on working. When the reward comes, you won’t even be able to contain it. It will be more than enough.

Success comes at the end of the rocky, challenging road, filled with hurdles. Even though large rocks and other hurdles may be in your way, don’t stop toiling. Even though at times you may have to spend time climbing over them – don’t stop toiling.

Simon Peter never stopped toiling even though he was discouraged having caught nothing– see what his obedience and ACTION got him – Success!

Jesus says to you – Launch Out! Go after that business dream, that university desire, that family house you want to build or what ever it may be.

You’ll make it friend – You just have to keep toiling and not give up!

Storms Always Pass

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:39 KJV)

Have you ever seen a hurricane or tornado stay around forever? No! They always pass.

It's a few minutes after midnight, Eastern Standard Time, as I write. God wouldn't allow me to sleep until I send out this word to you - Storms Always Pass!

Over the 25 years that God has speared my life, I've followed the weatherman from the point the storm was discovered, through to the point the storm was passing, then after the storm passed.

In every case, I've NEVER seen the storm stay around, It ALWAYS passed.

This may probably be a dark, gloomy, scary time in your life and you may be definitely afraid to face your tomorrow, or even wonder if you'll get past this week. This was the very same case with the passengers on the ship in which Jesus was taking a nap as a storm was passing. They were downright scared.

When Jesus was found sleeping peacefully during such a treacherous storm, they awoke him and questioned his actions. I like what Jesus did. He didn't wake up all fussy and angry at them. Mark says, And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:39 KJV)

After Jesus spoke, the situation changed. The storm passed. Things were back to normal again

Marital Problems? Financial Woes? Wayward Children? Job Issues? Health Burdens? Something else? Your Storm will pass too.

Friend, as I sit here and type, I honestly feel your burden. I don't know what it is directly, but my heart feels for you. Weather the storm! Learn as you take shelter under the wings of God. Very soon, Jesus will utter the phrase he spoke in the book of Mark over your life.

Peace Be Still!

When he does, you'll know for sure that your storm would have passed and it'll be time to rebuild and succeed!

The Calm is Coming. May Jesus Keep You Safe As Your Storm Passes By.

Don't Stress

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

Don't Stress!

Yes - I know what you are saying having read those two words. "Easy to Say - Hard to Do." The fact is friend, you really don't have to stress anymore. Jesus wants to take care of all your issues all by himself. He doesn't need your help.

In life, we all fall into trying, stressful, difficult, overbearing situations. None of us are immune to them. Actually, the bible says that at times we will fall. "Rejoice not against me oh mine enemy, when I fall I shall arise.."  (Micah 7:8) When we fall, we will rise again once we have faith and HOPE in the master.

When we are going through our difficult moments, we need to seek God. We need to TRUST him. When we seek him and find him - do what the Apostle Peters says to do, throw our cares and burdens on him because that's what he cares about. Jesus loves to see us happy and stress free, but many times instead of letting him take care, we try to take care of our situations ourselves.

Friend - Stop Doing That! Simply cast them on Jesus today.

How can you do that? Pray to God and acknowledge his power. Tell him all of your problems and issues that you want him to take care of. Do Not leave out any! From the smallest issue to the biggest hurdle - tell him.

Having done that, ask him to take your burdens upon himself and deal with them. After you would have done that, just trust God, and trust God and keep trusting him. You will be amazed at how he will work it all out for you in his time.

Don't Stress!

S.S.S - Simply Say Sorry

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea. 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Mt 3:1-2)

Saying Sorry is no longer the order of the day.

As I grew into a young man, I always carried a lesson I learnt as a child. My family constantly reiterated the importance of apologizing when we were wrong and at times even when we weren't wrong.

Carrying burdens of guilt and unforgiveness do much more harm than good.

When we choose to live with unresolved issues and hearts of anger, we live in direct disobedience to God and his word. Saying sorry to our peers and family is just as important as saying sorry to God and asking for his forgiveness. John the Baptist had to notice that the people in his time needed to say sorry to God for their sins. Thus he went around preaching the importance and the urgency of doing that IMMEDIATELY.

"Repent ye" - he exclaimed, "for the kingdom of God is at hand." Repentance implies that one is sorry for their past sins against God and is now committed to move forward with a renewed mind and spirit and have an attitude of HOPE.

Just as begging pardon restores a broken relationship with a loved one, saying SORRY to God can start a  REAL  RELATIONSHIP with him, one that you've been searching for all your life.

Today, make it your task to say sorry to those that you've wronged and those that have wronged you too. Having done that, make it your business to say SORRY to God and ask for FORGIVENESS so that you can move forward with the HOPE  MASTER - JESUS  CHRIST holding your hand.

Get access to eternal HOPE today - Simply Say Sorry.
