You've Come A Long Way In 2015 - Keep Going

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ( Genesis 1:31 KJV)

You can't stop progressing now! You've come a long, long way!

Sometimes when I'm dreaming, I think about putting together the perfect ingredients that will yield a high demand restaurant product such as that of KFC or McDonalds or Red Lobster or IHop etc. So, just yesterday, during some of my spare time, I wanted to prepare something different for my close friends and family who are always happy to taste my new meal inventions and give their reviews whether good or bad.

Having completed my new 'Back n Neck' Delicacy, I took a forty-five second stroll to my Uncle's home smiling with the dish in my hand. When he opened the crate and saw my well prepared delicacy, he closed it, covered his mouth and laughed and laughed and laughed before starting to eat and talk with me. I spent the rest of my night at his home just listening to him.

He said he laughed because it was "Donkey Years," (a Caribbean Term used to express an extended length of time) he had not eaten Back n Necks, and how that was the meal of the day in his time. He continued talking and explained to me that back then, life was hard. Very hard. He shared some startling findings with me that caused me to open my mouth in awe.

My uncle, Pastor St. Clair Archibald Sr. recounted of days when his mom boiled green soursop as a meal. "Fancy tea bags were not the order of the day," he said. "We had to squeeze the juice from the cane into a cup, add water and tea bush in order to get our morning or evening tea."

Pastor Archibald continued. "Many days. Many, many days, sweet potato that had been boiled in its skin made us smile. We ate it without relish." To my utter amazement, he said, "bread wasn't a regular thing for us, but when we got a little piece, we were so happy, even though after eating it, we would feel hungry again shortly after because the little cut never filled us."

My uncle blessed God for the few goats they were able to own. They deprived the kids of the milk from the ewe (their mother), and used it themselves. He said, "I remember those mornings of getting up early to look after the pigs, goat and sheep. We were too poor to own any cattle."

Wanting to know more, I asked. "Uncle St. Clair, what were your living conditions like?" He laughed again and began to speak. "I lived in a thatched house made with sugar cane leaves. The bark from trees were used as strings to tie them together. We used newspaper to decorate the inside of our house and the clammy cherry fruit was used as glue to stick these papers together."

He said, "As poor as nearly everyone was, those days people were content." He smiled to himself and said, "You know Khrystus, there was no electricity, no radio, no television."

Pastor Archibald recounted that his church in Bricklin Nevis, Nevis Baptist  was the first to get electricity from a generator that was donated by Calvary Baptist in St. Thomas and the first night it was powered on, the entire village came out to church.

My uncle has reached the age that God has promised each of us. By reason of good health, he lives on. He has now lived to stop mailing missionary letters through the post to emailing them HIMSELF and chatting with fellow ministry colleagues on MSN or Yahoo and Social Media. I stand amazed to see him get all fascinated with some of the latest technological devices. The other day, he brought back a phone from a Missionary trip to the USA and both my brother and I had to go and read the manual so we could show him all of the features.

Although he had to stop from school at age 14 to work at his Uncle's soda factory because his mom fell sick and he didn't have a supporting father, this never kept him from Progressing ONWARD and FORWARD in life.

His challenging start never kept him from pastoring in this order, The Nevis Baptist Mission and Nevis Baptist Church in Nevis, West Indies. Grace Baptist Church, Maranatha Baptist Church and All Saints Baptist Church in Antigua - West Indies. Later  The Good News Baptist Church in Dutch St. Maarten and currently The Good News Baptist Church in St. Kitts-West Indies.

This humble man who was forced to leave school at age 14 to make life, was able to study and graduate from Blue Water Bible College in St. Thomas, USVI. This training allowed him to Plant the Maranatha Baptist Church mentioned above, and record scores of broadcasts that still air today on Caribbean Radio Lighthouse 1160 am and 92.3 fm in Antigua. He made many trips with his personal Ministry of Helps where he used his mechanical training to assist churches in repairing and refurbishing their church buses.

When I got home tonight, I couldn't go to bed before penning this devotional. We all have come a long way as a society. As a world. God has truly blessed, delivered and provided. If my uncle and many others made it through the struggles and hard times of yesterday and now bask in the blessings of today, WE  WILL  TOO. All we have to do is to keep our faith and HOPE high! Things will work out very soon!

Here's a challenge that I throw out to you today. Just like Jesus paused and admired his handy work and stated that it was GOOD, I want you to pause this minute. Stop the complaining and Just Give Thanks for where you've reached thus far and for all you have. Reminisce on the stories you've heard your parents, grand parents and great grand parents or elderly relatives recount and look at how far God has brought you and them today and JUST  GIVE  THANKS.

We've all come a long way and once we keep on going, we will definitely reach further. You will make it past this temporary trial. You will!

Hope is Ahead!

Happy New Year 2016

Christ Is All We Need

Brother Khrystus and a quarter of his Dare 2 Be Different International Youth Ministry

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (Col 3:11 KJV)

Christ is ALL we need!

There are times in our lives when we pause and think of the many things or people we may seem to need in order to make it through a difficult moment. At times, some of these things or people provide for us a TEMPORARY satisfaction and then we go searching again.

From the onset, may I pause here to state - Christ is ALL we need. Once we grow to recognise this point, we would realize that God isn't a "picker" and "chooser." He would not leave you out because you are too poor. He would not forget you because you don't dress as well as others. He won't pass you by because your bank account doesn't make everyone smile. The scripture above reminds us that no matter who we are and the state we are in, NO  ONE  is excluded from his love.

Christ DOES  NOT  PROVIDE  A  TEMPORARY  SOLUTION  TO  OUR  NEEDS.

There is certainly no other Saviour who is all so powerful, gracious and merciful the prophet Isaiah says in Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Why not look to Jesus today - Christ is ALL you need!

Becareful With What You Put In

John Francis Who Migrated Home To St. Kitts said that he reads nearly all of our Media Department  Blog Entries over the years and had to come and meet this amazing young man Brother Khrystus for the Christmas Season 2015 and congratulate him for all he's doing with the CHILDREN - tomorrow's leaders

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
(Philippians 4:8 KJV)

I sometimes wish that my vehicle would run off water instead of gas. I’m sure you understand just what I mean.

The frightening thing about putting water into a vehicle, is that it probably wouldn’t function well again  or function at all and you’ll let thousands of dollars slide down the drain. Thus, as drivers, we must be careful with what we put in.

We should also have this same attitude towards our lives. If we do, there would be a constant flow of positive results. Paul and Timotheous wrote to the church at Phillipi. In the book of Philippians, they give some powerful, lasting advice that we all should take to heart.

They remind us that just how we program our radios, televisions and phones to yield the results we want, we should do likewise to our minds. Instead of giving up on life and walking around like you are carrying the world on your shoulders, they both recommend that we should.

“think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of a good report.”

I took time to examine and re-examine that particular scripture as I studied it before writing. What I learnt is that all of those things that we are encouraged to focus our minds on are POSITIVE.

What is the lesson to be learnt here? What we put and take in our minds is just what we’ll get out. When we feed the positive thoughts and scriptures into our mind and soul, when we ensure we hang around positive people, when we shun doubters, we would be able to pull out the appropriate word at opportune times.

When we feed our minds rubbish, during times of trials and testing, we won’t be able to pull anything from inside our heart to encourage us because – Rubbish in – Rubbish Out.

Set your minds on the positive and soon you’ll be soaring with the eagles.

Becareful With What You Put In!

When Jesus The Hope Came

Khrystus and Tosshema Lanns

Brother Khrystus and a quarter of his Dare 2 Be Different International Youth Ministry

. . . Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (Matthew 2:2 KJV)

Everything changed when JESUS - The HOPE of the world came.

"Why do we celebrate Christmas?" the little boy asked his mother while they were shopping during the season. With a glow on her face and smile of HOPE, she responded. "My little pumpkin, we celebrate Christmas simply because JESUS came to this earth as a baby boy to accomplish something none of us could even dream of doing. He came to die for the sins of the world. We shop for gifts and give to others, as a token of our love, and a reminder that JESUS, the greatest gift was given to us around this time."

I like the little part that she added. The little boy's excited mother ended, "Because Jesus Came - Hope Came Too. That means we have an opportunity to say sorry for our sins and let Jesus forgive us and change our lives for ever, but the choice is ours."

The statement made me smile. I think mommy did a great job at simplifying the reason for the season.

From the moment God put man upon this earth, he gave us something called FREE-WILL and CHOICE. The sad part about it, is that we 'messed-up bad - ALL  OF  US - NONE  EXCLUDED.'

Due to our serious and sinful mistakes, God decided to send his Son to earth as a babe to pay the penalty for sin ONCE  FOR  ALL. The yearly sacrifice of unblemished lambs and bullocks couldn't do it any more, so Jesus was sent to earth by his Father, through the Virgin Mary to bring a NEW HOPE.

The thing is, we must decide to accept this NEW  HOPE  or  reject it. Accepting the HOPE that Jesus offers will yield eternal life in heaven at the end of our walk on earth. Doing contrary and rejecting Jesus' HOPE will result in our soul's damnation.

Once we accept Jesus' HOPE, we are promised that we will be constantly WATCHED  OVER and our prayers of FAITH and NEED will not go unanswered. (The eyes of the Lord are on the Righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers. 1 Peter 3:12 )

Just as wise men searched to find this WORLD  CHANGER in Matthew 2:2, so too, you must search until you find Jesus - The World Changer, Life Giver and Hope of this world and invite him into your heart. You are not beyond hope. You are not worst that anyone else. The fact is, JESUS is not far - He's just a prayer away.

This Christmas Day - 2011, please recognize that WHEN  HOPE  CAME, God had you on his mind and never wanted to see you suffer on earth and still die and go to hell. There is a MUCH  BETTER  LIFE  in Jesus Christ. There can be HOPE ahead for you once you TURN  to  HIM  TODAY!

Repent - Accept the HOPE  that Jesus offers!

Merry Christmas from Dare 2 Be Different International!
