Don't Give Up The Dream!

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. (Genesis 37:5 KJV)

It will all start with a dream!

I love to read success stories. From Thomas Edison, a man who tried 10,000 times before succeeding with inventing the light bulb to Sam Walton, founder of Walmart who started his store with a $20,000 loan from his father-in-law and has grown it to thousands of stores across the world today.

These stories, international, regional and local - ALL THRILL ME.  Do  Not Give Up on Your Dream!

Thomas Edison would have had much NAYSAYERS, LAUGHERS and SCORNERS around him and I believe this prompted a young reporter to ask Mr. Edison if he felt like a failure and whether he should just give up now. Mr. Edison's response was,  “Young man, why would I feel like a failure? And why would I ever give up? I now know definitively over 9,000 ways that an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp.” Shortly after trying over 10,000 times, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb.”

Most dreams only came through with HARD WORK, DETERMINATION and ENDURANCE.

Like many of the success stories of today, there is one that always touches my heart and prompts me to go on even when I sometimes feel like giving up. This is the story of Joseph. From the moment he had his first dream, and told it to his brethren, they HATED him.

People will hate you too for your dreams and aspirations. They won't understand you. They will write you off and call you a fool. They will be constantly JEALOUS of you. They will call you down and embarass you when you make mistakes. They will constantly MALIGN  YOUR  NAME   AND  TRY  TO  TEAR  IT  APART  AT  HOME, ON THEIR JOBS - EVERYWHERE. I definitely know about that!

Don't get down - it's all apart of the shaping process before you reach your destiny!

Like JOSEPH, who went through ROUGH  WATERS  before finally reaching his destiny and living out his dream - You Can't Give Up Now! It wasn't until years after that his dream in  Genesis 37:9 came to pass. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

He was actually made ruler after being sold as a slave and spending time in prison. His family had to acknowledge his leadership and go to him for help. Like Joseph's brothers who stood in amazement at how far he had reached, there will be those around you who thought that you'd not amount to anything, they will SUDDENLY stand amazed that you really became TOTALLY  SOMETHING!

Don't give up the dream! In pushing for the top - ensure your eyes are on JESUS who'll be at the top of the ladder encouraging you to go on.

Success is almost in my grasp! Success is almost at YOUR grasp! Don't Give Up! Hope Is Ahead!

Keep On Praying!

Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV)

Don't Stop Praying!

I sat and listened quite attentively to the first lady of the church that I attend during a presentation last night. When she heads up one of our weekly prayer meetings, she ensures that she brings a teaching just before we pray, which I believe should encourage us to keep on praying.

One of her first questions to us in the audience was, "What does it mean to pray without ceasing?" The question WOWED  me and caused me to think, "WHAT  IF  WE  JUST  KEEP  ON  PRAYING? - IMAGINE  HOW  OUR  GOD  WOULD  MOVE!"

The Apostle Paul in writing to the church at Thessonalica, gives a powerful piece of advice that we can cling to today. In his God inspired encouragement, he says PRAY  WITHOUT  CEASING! This means that we are to always be in an attitude of prayer and thanksgiving. We should always be exalting and acknowledging the awesomeness and powerfulness of God Almighty.

Just imagine how much more productive your day will be if you keep up a conversation with your maker ALL-THE-TIME. When things go well throughout the day, you won't forget to thank him. When people upset and offend you, you won't forget to ask him for patience. When you need help, he will be right there to help because you are constantly talking to him.

You will have access to POWER. It'll be right at your fingertips. It will give you a new sense of hope. It will relax and relieve your burdens and stresses. Only Prayer to the Master can do that.

As you go forward, pledge that you will participate in CONSTANT  PRAYER as you trust him as Lord and Saviour of your life.

Oh.......what a difference you'll see in your life!

Prayer Works - Try it!

Speak It Into Being!

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:22 KJV)

Speak Life Into Your Situation!

Jesus teaches in the book of Mark about the power we have as believers to speak things into being. He reminds us that all we need is FAITH in GOD.

I would like to throw this challenge out to you as a reader. Put God to the test TODAY. Before you do, ensure that you are in a relationship with him. You wouldn't get up and ask a total stranger to take you in as a son - right? In order to access this type of power, you must know Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

Then, there is that reader who is saying, I've known Jesus for a long time and nothing big or supernatural ever happened in my life. Then, probably you lack something - FAITH. You probably pray and don't FULLY and COMPLETELY  BELIEVE that God can perform it. Friend - Change your mindset today and then call your blessing and deliverance into being today!

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mark 11:23 KJV)

That means that you should stop worrying RIGHT NOW and START PRAYING IMMEDIATELY. Start calling things into being. Start declaring the positive over your life.

Examples: My child will come off of drugs! My marriage will start working again! My debts are delt with already! My breakthrough on the job is right here! I cancel the doctor's report and I send cancer back to the enemy! I refuse to be depressed any longer!

SPEAK  THE  POSITIVE  INTO  BEING. What you want as a believer - You Can Have! I don't think so - I know so and I am reminded about that fact right here.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:242 KJV)

SPEAK  IT  INTO  BEING! I  DECLARE  A  SUPERNATURAL  BREAKTHROUGH  OVER  THIS  READER  TODAY. I  CLAIM  ANSWERS  TO  THEIR  PRAYERS - IN  JESUS  NAME.

The Battle Is The Lord's

And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. (II Chronicles 20:15 KJV)

The Battle is the Lord's!

I am always humbled when ever someone reads one of these devotional entries and gives me a call, sends an email, gives me encouragement, requests prayer, needs an appointment to talk further, ask that I call, writes a letter or needs further encouragement and support.

You see, my calling is to encourage folks everywhere to trust and depend completely on God for he can help. I love doing that.

One recent email from a university student half way around the world stated, "I am confused, worried and burdened about my current situation. I am wondering how my life will end up considering this down economy. What should I do?"

If I tell you that I don't face my trials and go through difficult times, I would be lying. What I can tell you though, is that during every circumstance of my life, I make a desperate effort to recognise that the battle that I am going through is being fought by the one in whom I trust - Jesus Christ, and he will work it out for my good.

If we are to win in every situation and problem in our life, the Lord must be the one fighting our battles - EVERYTIME.

King Jehosophat recognized the power that lieth in the Master and went to him for help too. 2 Ch 20:4-6 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. 5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, 6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

With that faith, history tells us about how Jehosophat's nation came out triumphantly. His formula - "Let God Fight All Battles." He'll do a much better job than us!

Friend, you will come through triumphantly if you

1. Put Your Trust in God.

2. Have Faith that God is well able to help.

3. Put the matter in his hands by praying and telling him about your situation.

4. Stop worrying and wondering. Let God fight the battle and win!

You've Come Too Far to Give Up Now

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.( 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV)

We all face situations in life where we just feel like giving up.

I do and I believe I can assume that you do too. When ever I am at that point in my life, I have to find someway to encourage myself. Thus, I pull trying stories from the Bible about characters who endured, fought, moved forward inspite of and at the end - WON!

Moses is one such character who met with much opposition from Pharoah as he carried out God's task of leading the children of Israel out of bondage. He was constantly challenged and I believe tempted to get angry when Pharoah wouldn't heed. I believe that he wanted to give up too - but - he didn't. Moses endured until he was triumphant. Even when those who were suppose to be on his side started talking negatively, he never took his eyes off his Master and his task.

I am also reminded of the Apostle Paul, who had to face so many risky situations as he carried the gospel everywhere. Many times he had to literally RUN in order to live another day. Yet, he never gave up. At the end of his life, he was able to triumpantly state, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: ( 2 Timothy 4:7 KJV)

There is always a prize at the end of the road. A banner at the end of the race. Success at the end of hard work. Moses got his recognition! Paul got his Prize! You can get yours too - Don't Give Up Now! You've come too far!

A God of A Second Chance

And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD. (2 Samuel 11:27 KJV)

And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. (2 Samuel 12:13  KJV)

God hates sin!

David has come up with a scheme to rid Uriah off the face of the earth after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba his wife and got her pregnant. He thought the coverup was the best plan and then both himself and Bathsheba could move on with their lives.

This wasn't so though. God commissions Nathan to approach David and tell him that he was displeased with his actions and he was going to punish him for his deeds. David recognises his mistake and confesses - I have sinned against the LORD. (2 Samuel 12:13  KJV)

After the confession, God reduces his punishment and makes him aware that he would not die. God is A God of a Second Chance. David had to bear the punishment of losing that first son by Bathsheba. No matter how he prayed and fasted, God had to allow him to hurt so that he can understand.

There is a lesson for all of us to learn. When we sin, God hates that and he will punish us because he loves us and wants the best for us. At times, the punishment is harsh and severe, but we must learn to endure and trust him for he just wants to bring out the BEST in us.

After this mistake, David drew closer to God and was a better person. Don't mind when earthly folks write you off from mistakes you've made. Once you tell God you'e sorry and mean it from the bottom of your heart, he will HEAR - FORGIVE - HELP. After doing that, you'll be a much better person indeed.

Lord - Thank You For Being a God of A Second Chance. Friend, why not say your sorry for your sins now. God's waiting!

Happiness - Your Choice

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: ( Psalms 146:5 KJV)

Happiness is my choice. It's your choice too!

As individuals, we can choose whether we want to constantly live an unhappy life or we want to live happy and benefit from all the inheritance of blessings that God has in store for us. When persons trust in man, they end up in some very miserable and trying situations, while those who HOPE and TRUST in God remain HAPPY inspite of and despite of.

While we were born into a Dark sinful world from the moment Adam sinned, Jesus offers us a FRESH  LIFE and LIGHT which brings happiness. I like how Adam Clarke put it in his commentary on that particular verse. "But he that has the God for his help who helped Jacob in his distress, and was with him, and sustained him in and through all adversities, can never be destitute; for this God changes not; he lives for ever, and his projects cannot perish.)

Note: God never changes, so don't get down and walk around with a sad face. Just wait on him and enjoy your happiness moving forward.
