Rejoice

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:11-12 KJV)

Still rejoice!

After a session with a mature lady some time ago, we both agreed that her situation needed some devoted and consistent prayer for only God could make the difference. She seemed to have half the world on her back and all the planets too. After that particular HOPE  SESSION, I wondered why God had called me to serve in this area of ministry, motivation and counseling.

I felt like doing a JONAH - running away for a while and changing plans all together. There must be something easier and probably more rewarding than sitting and listening to everyone's issues and praying and encouraging them to go on I thought. I thought about pursuing my first dream of becoming a medical doctor. Then I said to myself, God would end up sending me on Medical Missions. I just felt like whoa - I need to change plans. (That was the flesh not wanting me to fulfill God's call on my life) The spirit is usually willing but the flesh weak (Matthew 26:41)

The very same lady with whom I held that session, happened to be in the very same church service that I had to preach at the following Sunday. Her actions during the worship gave me a life lesson. It pulled me up and made me regret my thoughts too.

REJOICE  even in the midst of your worst circumstance!

She was singing and dancing and giving her best praise in the middle of her worst situation. I know that she was being reviled and persecuted and talked about, but she was praising still. She seemed to have one thing in mind and one thing only. It was not her problems down here on earth but her REWARD in  HEAVEN!

Many persons in Bible times went through hard times too. I believe that's why the writer wrote that particular verse in Matthew 5 to encourage.  Many persons from decades ago had to live through trying times and even today. Are you one struggling to make it day by day?

Friend, what ever we all are facing now isn't anything new. Like the lady in our scenario today, let's Praise Still. Let's Glorify God Still! Let's Rejoice Still! Let's HOPE Still!

One day our mourning will definitely be turned into DANCING and our grief into JOY.

REJOICE - Hope is Ahead!

There Will Be A CHANGE - SOON

For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed. (Esther 10:3 KJV)

You have to be PASSIONATE about what you want to happen in your life, in your community, in your country and in your world!

Without a personal passion, you won't get very far. Question great entrepreneurs, they'll tell you they worked the midnight oil. Question world changers, they'll tell you that many times, they had to work alone, with little support in order to enact change. Question church planters, they'll tell you that for many weeks, they only had a handful of people attending the church they were starting.

There is one thing common with PASSIONATE people, they are usually full of Faith and Hope that THERE  WILL  BE  A  DIFFERENCE - THERE  WILL  BE  A  CHANGE!

In the book of Esther, Mordecai was the difference maker. He decided that he was NEVER going to stop until there was a change of plans. You see, Haman who was given some high powers from the king, was angry that Mordecai wasn't bowing down to him and got the king to decree that all the Jews should die.

Mordecai, a man after God's own heart decided that THINGS  WILL  NOT  GO  THAT  WAY, there MUST be a change. I love what he did, he didn't just talk like many of us today, he ACTED. In Esther 4:1, Mordecai tore off his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes and went in the middle of the city and cried with a bitter cry. He even went a step further. He wanted to be heard. He wanted to be noticed and so he went near the king's gate.

He went public, he wasn't letting this law be carried out without a fight. In Esther 4:3, Mordecai summons his Jewish colleagues to pray and fast and mourn and weep and wail and join him and lay in sackcloth and ashes.

In Mordecai's spirit, he was saying, "THERE  WILL  BE  A  CHANGE!" He get's attention from Esther, a chosen Jew who was made the king's wife and lived in the Palace. He informs her of how urgent the matter was and although she was fearful, he doesn't give up. He pushes her until she goes in to see the king, explains the situation and causes the tables to turn.

Haman himself was hanged on the same gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. All of this happened because Mordecai decided that "THERE  WILL  BE  A  CHANGE."

Friend, what ever you want in life, you have to have lots of FAITH, HOPE, STRENGTH and COURAGE and fight for it. Like Mordecai, never stop until the change - the difference that you want comes into being. Set in your mind to overcome every huddle and past hurt. Set in your mind to rise when you fall. Set in your mind to shun every NAYSAYER.

Set in your mind that there will be a change in your family situation, your health issue, your wayward child, your employment problem, your financial situation. It's only when you make up in your mind that SOMETHING  MUST  CHANGE, that it will.

Mordecai rose from being an ordinary Jew, half naked crying in sackcloth and ashes to being next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed. (Esther 10:3 KJV)

You can and will rise too if you decide - THERE  WILL BE  A  CHANGE.

Today, December, 16th 2011, I publicly renew my commitment to work hand in hand with children and youth all around the world to endeavour to change their mindset and show them that they can and will make it with God's help. With help or without - I resolve today that There Will Be A Change among our Youth!

Hope is Ahead!

The Blessings Will Come Pouring In

And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. (2 Kings 4:6KJV)

Your blessings will soon come rushing in!

Have you ever been down to your lowest? Have you ever just wished your answer will come immediately? Many of us long for a miraculous blessing and breakthrough to take place. In talking with a smiling gentleman a few years back, he was happily giving his testimony of how God had showed up and delivered. This man was at a point in his life where he thought the last available option was to commit suicide. He was being pressured by his family, friends, debt collectors, everyone. HE  WAS  STRESSED!

He said, just as he continued to encourage the suicidal thoughts while he was alone, God gave him an idea. He said that immediately, he left his position and started to put the idea to work. This was one of the simplest ideas to carry out as God knew he didn't have any CAPITAL and banks wouldn't look at him TWICE.

It had to be God! He testified.

Today, although an elderly man, he is a multi-millionaire from the idea that God gave him that day. He owns many real estate properties that work for him and his family around the world and that first idea has grown international.

Note: This was a man on the verge of committing suicide. Friend - STOP! Rethink your actions. Your situation is a LIGHT thing in the eyes of God.

It was a LIGHT thing for God when The Shunamite Woman only had a pot of oil left in her house. God gave the man of God Elisha instructions for this lady. Having followed the instructions, Bible history tells us that she was able to fill all the containers with oil until there was none left. She sold the oil, paid her debt and lived on the rest.

Certainly, her blessings came pouring in. The very same thing can happen to you if you only believe. Have some faith! HOPE is AHEAD!

You have probably been in your challenging situation for a while. God is telling you to listen to him as he speaks to your spirit. Like the now successful businessman, he wants you to listen and ACT  IMMEDIATELY. Put that idea or dream to work.

Just as he had nothing and now has nearly everything because of his IMMEDIATE obedience to God, the very same can happen to you.

I like how the gentleman put it as he closed his conversation. He said, "I owe it all to God!"

HOPE  IS  AHEAD. Don't Give Up! Your Breakthrough is coming!

Fear Not - Believe Only

But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. (Luke 8:50 KJV)

Why Fear?

Fear can cripple a positive mindset if you allow it to. The story is told of a young entrepreneur who ventured into the world of business in his early twenties. Things were going perfectly well. He was building a large clientele, he was building his savings, he was able to now drive his own car and he had gotten approval to start building his own home.

Sadly, during the prime of his youth, as he was meeting with success, he made an unwise decision to hang with the wrong crowd when he wasn't occupied with his business. While 'liming' one night, a bullet shot and killed the gentleman who was right next to him and the young entrepreneur fainted. When he was brought back to himself, he never recovered from that state of shock and fear, and never functioned well for the rest of his life, thus business closure was the only option.

We choose whether we want fear to cripple us or not. All of us are bound to go through trying situations in life. Health. Family. Relationships. Employment. Business. Financial. You name it. Some will bring much pain and hurt and depression. Others will teach us life long lessons. What we must do though, is to ensure that amidst them all, we must choose to remain HOPEFUL and stay BELIEVING that things will be better and God is well able to deliver.

The passage under review today tells of Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue who has a sick daughter. He quickly rushes to find Jesus to explain the situation. While out with the master, he receives word from one of his employees that his daughter is dead and he need not disturb the Master anymore. Jesus heard the talk and utters some powerful words Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. (Luke 8:50 KJV)

Bible history tells us that Jesus only spoke two words and things were back to normal again - the girl was brought back to life.

I, like you, want things to grow normal again. My situation may not be yours, but the fact is we ALL are facing challenges. We all have situations that need urgent attention. I have promised myself to try not to worry and fear, but BELIEVE  ONLY. It is when I'm in that spirit of faith, the Master is prepared to speak a few words over my situation and change it instantly.

Please join me and develop that type of spirit too.

FEAR  NOT  Friend - Only Believe. Hope is Ahead.

You've Come A Long Way - Keep Going

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ( Genesis 1:31 KJV)

You can't stop progressing now! You've come a long, long way!

Sometimes when I'm dreaming, I think about putting together the perfect ingredients that will yield a high demand restaurant product such as that of KFC or McDonalds or Red Lobster or IHop etc. So, just yesterday, during some of my spare time, I wanted to prepare something different for my close friends and family who are always happy to taste my new meal inventions and give their reviews whether good or bad.

Having completed my new 'Back n Neck' Delicacy, I took a forty-five second stroll to my Uncle's home smiling with the dish in my hand. When he opened the crate and saw my well prepared delicacy, he closed it, covered his mouth and laughed and laughed and laughed before starting to eat and talk with me. I spent the rest of my night at his home just listening to him.

He said he laughed because it was "Donkey Years," (a Caribbean Term used to express an extended length of time) he had not eaten Back n Necks, and how that was the meal of the day in his time. He continued talking and explained to me that back then, life was hard. Very hard. He shared some startling findings with me that caused me to open my mouth in awe.

My uncle, Pastor St. Clair Archibald Sr. recounted of days when his mom boiled green soursop as a meal. "Fancy tea bags were not the order of the day," he said. "We had to squeeze the juice from the cane into a cup, add water and tea bush in order to get our morning or evening tea."

Pastor Archibald continued. "Many days. Many, many days, sweet potato that had been boiled in its skin made us smile. We ate it without relish." To my utter amazement, he said, "bread wasn't a regular thing for us, but when we got a little piece, we were so happy, even though after eating it, we would feel hungry again shortly after because the little cut never filled us."

My uncle blessed God for the few goats they were able to own. They deprived the kids of the milk from the ewe (their mother), and used it themselves. He said, "I remember those mornings of getting up early to look after the pigs, goat and sheep. We were too poor to own any cattle."

Wanting to know more, I asked. "Uncle St. Clair, what were your living conditions like?" He laughed again and began to speak. "I lived in a thatched house made with sugar cane leaves. The bark from trees were used as strings to tie them together. We used newspaper to decorate the inside of our house and the clammy cherry fruit was used as glue to stick these papers together."

He said, "As poor as nearly everyone was, those days people were content." He smiled to himself and said, "You know Khrystus, there was no electricity, no radio, no television."

Pastor Archibald recounted that his church in Bricklin Nevis, Nevis Baptist  was the first to get electricity from a generator that was donated by Calvary Baptist in St. Thomas and the first night it was powered on, the entire village came out to church.

My uncle has reached the age that God has promised each of us. By reason of good health, he lives on. He has now lived to stop mailing missionary letters through the post to emailing them HIMSELF and chatting with fellow ministry colleagues on MSN or Yahoo and Social Media. I stand amazed to see him get all fascinated with some of the latest technological devices. The other day, he brought back a phone from a Missionary trip to the USA and both my brother and I had to go and read the manual so we could show him all of the features.

Although he had to stop from school at age 14 to work at his Uncle's soda factory because his mom fell sick and he didn't have a supporting father, this never kept him from Progressing ONWARD and FORWARD in life.

His challenging start never kept him from pastoring in this order, The Nevis Baptist Mission and Nevis Baptist Church in Nevis, West Indies. Grace Baptist Church, Maranatha Baptist Church and All Saints Baptist Church in Antigua - West Indies. Later  The Good News Baptist Church in Dutch St. Maarten and currently The Good News Baptist Church in St. Kitts-West Indies.

This humble man who was forced to leave school at age 14 to make life, was able to study and graduate from Blue Water Bible College in St. Thomas, USVI. This training allowed him to Plant the Maranatha Baptist Church mentioned above, and record scores of broadcasts that still air today on Caribbean Radio Lighthouse 1160 am and 92.3 fm in Antigua. He made many trips with his personal Ministry of Helps where he used his mechanical training to assist churches in repairing and refurbishing their church buses.

When I got home tonight, I couldn't go to bed before penning this devotional. We all have come a long way as a society. As a world. God has truly blessed, delivered and provided. If my uncle and many others made it through the struggles and hard times of yesterday and now bask in the blessings of today, WE  WILL  TOO. All we have to do is to keep our faith and HOPE high! Things will work out very soon!

Here's a challenge that I throw out to you today. Just like Jesus paused and admired his handy work and stated that it was GOOD, I want you to pause this minute. Stop the complaining and Just Give Thanks for where you've reached thus far and for all you have. Reminisce on the stories you've heard your parents, grand parents and great grand parents or elderly relatives recount and look at how far God has brought you and them today and JUST  GIVE  THANKS.

We've all come a long way and once we keep on going, we will definitely reach further. You will make it past this temporary trial. You will!

Have You Ever Had A Bad Start?

2. And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. 3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. (Exodus 2:2-3 KJV)

Things that start bad, don't have to end bad!

I woke up this morning all jolly and happy and ready to face my today, when life just made a sudden turn on me. Someone tried to upset me with some comments. Somethings that should have been completed by employees weren't done. The telephone started ringing too early. Someone wanted me to stop what I'm doing to process an order and get's upset because they have to wait a while. A family member did and said something that is meant to upset me. I got a startling email.

Put on all of that, children come calling at my gate because they want to spend the holidays with Dare 2 Be Different and parents start sending blackberry messages, calling and texting begging for us to accommodate their kids when we had no plans this season.

What was I to do this bright Monday morning? Drive the children and youth away? No. That's the heart of Dare 2 Be Different? Was I to just get angry and blurt out at everyone? Was I to respond with a hash email and let the black and white damage my business? Why did today have to start so "bad" I thought?

I took a walk away and thought for a while. Honestly, I thought and thought on what I should write about early this morning but God didn't give me the revelation yet. Then, he took me back to the story of Moses a few minutes ago.

Moses wasn't old like you and I when he had a bad start in life. He was born around a time when the Pharoah of the day wanted all baby boys around his time DEAD. Dead I say. Dead! His mom was determined that she would do all in her power to try and save her child's life.

Bible history tells us that having been hid for three months, his mother now prepares a basket that can withstand water and hides him among the bushes along the River Nile in Egypt. She was determined that even though he had to have a BAD  START, his END - HIS  LATTER should be promising

It was indeed promising! God allowed Moses to be brought up in the very own Pharoah's Palace, by Pharoah's Daughter. He got the best treatment. This was a child who was on Pharoah's Death List! Do you understand where I'm coming from?

He had a bad start! But. . . later on, he grew to be leader, a warrior and lead his very own people out of Bondage in Egypt. This is the Moses that had a bad start. Because of his actions, later on, the children of Israel were allowed to enter into the Promised Land, simply because someone who had a bad start ended up Victorious.

Today, your day may have started bad. You may have even had a bad start in life. You probably weren't raised among the richest people around. You probably didn't pay attention with your education. You probably dropped out of school. You were probably sexually abused or got SEXUALLY  ACTIVE  TOO  YOUNG  AND  THIS  MESSED  UP  YOUR  LIFE. You probably made some bad financial mistakes. You probably regret many things in life.

We all have made some blunders in life. Ask GOD for forgiveness and MOVE  ON. Never let past mistakes, failures and challenges prevent you from reaching your DESTINY. You are born to be a Winner - So Do Everything that will allow you to cross the ribbon Triumphantly!

Arise Friend - Get Up - Don't let a bad start keep you back any longer. Moses didn't, so you shouldn't either. Today, I have to restructure all of my plans so that I can have a great day and a great week.

As I write, children who I never had any plans for for the season are already in my computer lab. My phone is ringing for them to come. I have to ensure that I do the job that the employee didn't do. I have to respond to the email. I have to deal with other challenges today. But. . . .I refuse to let my bad start today and my mistakes of yesterday keep me from Excelling Tomorrow!

Hope is Ahead!

One Extraordinary STEP Will Do It

And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. (Mark 1:18 KJV)

One Step of Faith can change your life forever!

Things didn't go as planned yesterday. You see, our Dare 2 Be Different Team had planned to hold a Surprise Fun Day for the children to whom we minister since school had just gone on Christmas break. What affected our plans though, was a sudden change in the weather which brought lots of rain and caused the ghauts to start running.

One lone little 9 year old lad, who had come out still for our Saturday morning computer classes for children, had the privilege of accompanying me to host our 11am Dare 2 Be Different Youth Rap radio programme on Dominion Radio 91.5FM in St. Kitts-Nevis. Was he excited!

We were having a great time on the radio programme together. Coming closer to the end of the programme, he secluded himself a bit and got all quiet. He was thinking something I knew, but I couldn't figure out what. After I would have shared with my audience, he waited for me to put up the next song to play and he shyly marched around by the switchboard where I was siting.

He said, Brother Khrystus, I want to get baptized. This made my heart leap for joy. I explained to the little chap that he first needed to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour of his life before he gets baptized. With time running down on the clock, I set another song to play and shared the salvation message with the 9 year old and he willingly prayed the sinners prayer and got saved.

Interestingly enough, since I collected other children who had still come out in the rain to our Fun Day, we drove here and there making errands, having fun and we assisted a family with some Christmas preparations, as we constantly teach our youths the importance of caring, sharing and giving.

Every where we went, I could now hear this NEW  YOUTH  FOR  CHRIST  AMBASSADOR telling everyone that he was saved and now a new little boy. I believe my personal testimony encouraged him a lot as I spoke to him too. I told him that I too was a young boy, just 10 years old when I got saved at Vacation Bible School and shared the wonderful work that God was doing through me.

He vowed that he wanted to make a difference too and wanted to get active immediately.

Friend - One Extraordinary STEP can make the biggest difference in your life. Jesus calls you to a personal relationship with him. He doesn't call you to RELIGION or to a CHURCH, he calls you to a PERSONAL  RELATIONSHIP  WITH  HIM.

All you have to do, is confess you're a sinner, believe JESUS died just for you and ask him to save you. When you do that SIMPLE act of Faith, you will now begin living a NEW  LIFE  OF  HOPE.

Salvation doesn't make you perfect IMMEDIATELY. It's a process! So, when you accept Jesus as Saviour and you falter here or there, don't worry about the people around who would want to pull you down to the dirt because of a mistake. I  PERSONALLY  KNOW  ABOUT  THAT! THIS  TYPE IS  EVERYWHERE - DEADLY!

They are sent by the devil to try and discourage you. That's why you always have to be constantly praying and reading your bible.

Always Remember, Jesus is at the right hand of the master, constantly making intercession for YOU. Actually, the bible says that at times we will fall. "Rejoice not against me oh mine enemy, when I fall, I shall arise..." (Micah 7:8 KJV) When we fall, we will rise again once we have faith and HOPE in the master.

You will MAKE it once you MEAN it!

Let's learn from the disciples. When Jesus Calls - Answer. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. (Mark 1:18 KJV). He's calling you right now. He's speaking to your heart this minute. Will you answer?

Let's meet up in heaven some time - Trust Jesus Today and live a life of HOPE. One Extraordinary STEP will do it! When you accept Jesus as saviour, please drop our ministry a note at: information@daretobedifferentskn.com and let us celebrate with you.
