1 Chronicles 16:2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD. 3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
As you may have figured by now, my number one hobby is READING. If you want to ever destroy me, just take away every single piece of reading material from off planet earth and you would have gotten the job done. I LOVE READING ANY AND EVERYTHING and learning, even though I may not agree with the writer in some respects.
During my twenty eight years of living and reading, I have developed an addiction to reading the SUCCESS STORIES of great world figures and leaders and successful businessmen and businesswomen and learning from their triumphs, successes, trials and pitfalls.
There is something quite common among all of them though. It is this. THEY LOVED TO GIVE AND SHARE in someway. Even though some of them had no active faith in God, they were all seemingly following the Biblical principal of GIVING found in Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Imagine, JESUS, the greatest world figure to ever walk planet earth officially started off his ministry by GIVING. He turned WATER INTO WINE as his very first miracle. He didn't start it like how many so called ministers of religion around the world now start their ministries today, by having a BIG OFFICIAL SERVICE and passing out envelopes to see how much money they can raise at first and then REJOICING that the Lord has blessed.
JESUS started his ministry by GIVING - by HELPING. His very first public action set the precedence on how we as GOD-FOLLOWERS should behave too. WE SHOULD GIVE MORE. GIVE OF OUR RESOURCES - OUR TIME - OUR SKILLS AND HELP OTHERS.
Let me go off on a little tangent and ask. How many preachers - pastors - evangelists - apostles - bishops etc around the world find the time to PERSONALLY GIVE AND HELP now a days. Can you answer that? Does your church leader HELP? When last has he or she even taken the time out to greet you or even hug you and wish you well or breathe a quick word of prayer? #REALTALK
In the passage of scripture under review today, in the book of 1st Chronicles, we see David, one of the greatest leaders and kings ever to walk planet earth, taking time out TO GIVE AND TO SERVE those that were following him. 1 Chronicles 16:2 And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD. 3 And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine.
I do believe that Jesus, King David, Moses, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa and we can go on and on and on and on, lived some of the most impacting lives and were some of the most SUCCESSFUL people because they followed the Biblical principal of GIVING.
They were using KARMA or the WHAT YOU SOW IS WHAT YOU REAP PRINCIPAL found in Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
They gave of their resources, their time, their skills and shared their blessings in every possible way. They were not SELFISH. Some, especially JESUS left himself UNDONE for others - he even DIED ON THE CROSS, giving the GREATEST gift anyone could ever have given simply because he CARED FOR OTHERS.
Help OTHERS and you will be HELPED! YOU WILL BE BLESSED!
I honestly never intended to make this global devotional very long, but I must share my favourite hymn for you. It is titled OTHERS written by Charles D. Meigs in 1917.
How do you define SUCCESS though? If you define SUCCESS by the amount of money you have on the bank and in your wallet or purse, you are living an EMPTY - SELFISH LIFE.
SUCCESS IS NOT WEALTH OR MONEY!
Although I am working very hard and marketing globally to get my business and ministry financially strong, at the end of the day, all I acquire is to HELP OTHERS IN SOME WAY.
When they read my EULOGY whether I die young or old, I really don't want to look down from the portals of heaven and hear them saying all sorts of things about me. If the writer and reader of my EULOGY simply stands to the front of the congregation and says, "KHRYSTUS VEREN KHRYSTOPHERSON WALLACE HELPED OTHERS," I would certainly retire to my mansion in heaven, right next to Daniel's own and continue to relax and sing praises to the GREAT GOD THAT I SERVE.
What therefore is SUCCESS? Go and research that for homework and then ask GOD to re-position your life so you can cross over and begin walking THE TRUE PATH TO VICTORY AND SUCCESS and stop following RELIGION but rather seek after RIGHTEOUSNESS AND SPIRITUALITY.
Don't Give Up! Hope is definitely ahead! Help OTHERS and you will be HELPED!
