Keep Out Of People's Kitchen! Keep Out Of People's Business!

Brother Khrystus holding a guava that a child brought to church for him

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. (John 12:7  KJV)

If I start cooking some food, I never like anyone coming into the kitchen to interfere. Let me cook my souse and goatwater and bake Dare 2 Be Different PIZZA for the Youth we Impact - ALONE. Since you don't know what I'm cooking and what's going on in my kitchen, I always feel that people should stay out!

Around the world, too many of us like to get into people's kitchen to gather all the information / news that we can get, while our own pots are burning and our food is turning BLACK.

Why am I going around the bush? I have to remember that I am not in my favorite class from high school, English Literature, where many of the writings in the books we used were penned in parable style. To put it plain and simple, we need to MIND  OUR  OWN  BUSINESS  AND  STOP  GETTING  INVOLVED  IN  OTHER  PEOPLE'S  BUSINESS  IF  WE  ARE  NOT  INVITED.

This hasn't just started happening. It has happened ever since the beginning of time.

Don't you remember that Cain was too busy minding Abel's business and offerings that he got jealous and killed him?

Don't you remember that Jacob and his mother were too busy thinking about the blessing that ESAU was about to receive that they devised a cunning plan to steal it?

It has been happening for hundreds of years. What I tend to notice though, with many of the people who like to dwell and lime in other people's kitchens, is this. While they are busy minding the business of others, they are failing to see their pots are burning and TURNING BLACK. They are failing to see their own problems in their lives, their homes, their marriages, their children's lives, their jobs etc.

Cain was too busy watching the honest offering Abel was giving. If he was minding his own business and keeping his eyes on God - not man, he probably would have loved and respected God much more and offered to Him something FAAAAR better than what he was giving.

It was the same thing with Jacob and his mother. If they just stopped minding the business of their brother and son and waited on their blessings to come, all of the anger and the migration could have been avoided.

In the passage of scripture under review today, those around were minding the business of Mary while she did her very best for The Master and anointed him with expensive oil. An inquisitive Judas Iscariot speaks up and questions the move. Jesus quickly shuts him up and says - "Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this." (John 12:7  KJV)

If you read further on, Jesus continues to make some valid statements endorsing the move of Mary with her oil. I believe Jesus' words to Judas back then are the very same words to many of us TODAY.

"Leave people's business alone and focus on our own if you are not invited into their SITUATIONS  AND  LIVES!" I honestly believe friend, when we do that, we would have more time to focus on living right, doing right and bearing good fruit.

Keep Out Of People's Kitchen! Keep Out of People's Business! When you do that, you'll be able to prevent your pot from turning black or your situation from getting worse.

. . . so WHAT if she bought a new car or isn't driving one? So what if the dress they have on today, they wore it last week? So what if he bought some Timberland shoes and only works for minimum wage? So what if someone doesn't smile with you like others? So what if they got a promotion? So what if they went to jail and are doing their best to not let the SCAR keep them down and rise again?

Don't go around taking everything you hear about others and making it fact when you don't know what's cooking in their KITCHEN. To put it plain, Don't go around taking everything you hear about others and making it fact when you don't know their STORY and SITUATION!

For peace sake - come out of people's KITCHEN and go in YOUR  OWN!

Friend, remember too, isn't every person or so called friend that you let into your KITCHEN, and let look down in your pot, is CONFIDENTIAL. Therefore be very careful with who you let into your KITCHEN! Always remember that finding CONFIDENTIAL people now-a-days is like looking for a NEEDLE in a HAYSTACK.

So, if you don't want the dumplings in your POT bouncing up and down the road, know which spoon you let stir your goat water. (Goat water is a popular St. Kitts-Nevis dish)

Hope is Ahead for you once you focus on YOU and keep your eyes and tongue out of people's kitchen and in YOURS!

I didn't say so - Jesus speaking in his word in John 12:7 reminds us to "LET  HER  ALONE / LET  HIM  ALONE which means. . . ."

You Are Being Held

Brother Khrystus holding a guava that a child brought to church for him

3. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (Psalm 91:3-4 KJV)

God is Holding You!

Have you ever paused and thought about why you haven't succumbed to your situation although things are rough and tough and challenging? That's simply because YOU  ARE  BEING  HELD  BY  THE  MASTER! A USA reader that responded to one of these devotionals just this week reminded me of this fact when he made this statement via email. "It's not so much that I am holding on, but rather that I am constantly held, by the everlasting arms."

I had to conclude how much of a truism that was.

Friend, I want you to spend the next thirty seconds thinking back on the many challenges you've faced already. 1 . . . 2. . .  .3. . .   Now that you've thought, hasn't God always delivered or provided some type of solution? Yes he has! It may not be just what we wanted and how we wanted it, but WE  WERE  HELD  BY  JESUS  and  delivered.

Do you remember when you needed a financial breakthrough? God sent it just in time - right? What makes you feel he won't do it again?

Do you remember when you were in deep distress over some sought of illness? What happened? You prayed. You asked others to pray. Today you or your loved one are much healthier.

We can go on and on. The point that I am raising here is that you are alive and making it day by day, week by week, month by month and year by year because GOD  IS  HOLDING  YOU!

When ever we don't want something precious to break, we hold it ourselves. God doesn't want anything to happen to you, so. . . HE'S  HOLDING  YOU  HIMSELF!

The Psalmist provides much comfort in Psalm 91:3-4. He says, (paraphrased) no matter what you are going through. No matter the storm or trial that you face. No matter the trap that has been set up for you by those around you - YOUR  HATERS - YOUR  ENEMIES - YOUR FRENEMIES. Fear Not! God will deliver.

Friend. . . some of the best encouragement I can give you, I'll pull from the scripture under review.

1. God shall deliver you from all snares or plans of the enemy
2. You shall be delivered from the noisome pestilence
3. You shall be covered by his feathers, and sheltered under his wings
4. God's truth shall be your shield and buckler.

After such wonderful promises, I believe deep within my heart for sure, that I  AM  BEING  HELD. So to, are YOU!

Much Blessings! Hope is Ahead! Don't YOU ever give up!

Don't Let Failure Be An Option

Brother Khrystus holding a guava that a child brought to church for him

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (II Timothy 4:7 KJV)

Don't Quit - Keep On Pushing. Never let failure be on your list of options!

Sometime ago, I read a fiction story about hundreds of frogs that lived in a community. The story says that one day, the frogs decided to have a competition. They would see which one of them could climb to the top of the highest antenna in the village. This was like the Olympics of today.

The day came for the big event. Hundreds of frogs had enrolled to be apart of this event and tens of thousands of onlookers had come out to see who would win this race. Media houses from every area of Frog Kingdom were covering the story.

POW! The sound of the gun started the race. Each little frog started climbing quickly. Beneath the antenna, onlookers were constantly being negative with their talks. One by one you could hear statements such as, "None of them will ever make it to the top." "Tommy is too weak." "Why did Mariana even think about entering that race." "That one is too fat." Lots and lots of negative statements filled the air as each frog tried to reach the top.

It is said, that bit by bit, many frogs dropped off and couldn't complete the race. All but ONE. This little one kept going and going and going. The negative statements still filled the air, but he kept going and finally WON the race.

He returned to the bottom of the antenna to a cheering crowd and proud parents. Media houses asked the parents what they gave him to eat and how they trained him for this race. The parents simple said -"He's Deaf."

I hope you get the morale of this fiction story. Many times, those around us cause us to quit and fail because we listen to and adapt to the NEGATIVES being spoken around us, over us and behind our backs. Stop doing that friend!

Even when those around you constantly call you down and wish bad for you, still keep on PUSHING and FIGHTING until you win the race with Jesus on your side. They will do that to you on the job, at church, in your community, at home, everywhere. But, don't succumb to their negatives - YOU  CAN  MAKE  IT!

The Apostle Paul was a great bible character who had some trying times as he carried the gospel to the ends of the earth. I am sure sometimes the flesh inspired him to give up, yet he pushed and pushed and fought and fought. That's just how life's race is - you have to keep trying and pushing.

Friend, the race will be rough and tough, but you have to keep running in order to get the prize. Paul spent much of his ministry running to escape death. The good part is though, he made it. YOU  CAN  MAKE  IT  TOO.

The Naysayers will talk - but push still. As you do what you do, people will wish bad for you, but don't stop climbing. Like the little frog you'll make it. Like the Apostle Paul, you too will be able to say. . . I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: (II Timothy 4:7 KJV)

Cheers - Let's work to get to the top together!
