1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
We can ALWAYS go to God for forgiveness!
There is one thing that I love about God. It is this. We can always approach his throne of grace for FORGIVENESS.
There is also one thing that I love about many of the writers of the Bible and many of the Pastors in the Bible. They constantly reminded their following that GOD IS A FORGIVING GOD - he isn't like man.
Pastor John in preaching to his following in the book of 1st John 2:1 admonished them to avoid sinning. I know why he ensured he preached that. Simply because when we SIN, it always tends to bring hurt and pain to us and to others around us and causes our father God to bow his head in SHAME, although he still loves us.
Why does Pastor John call his following little children? It wasn't a matter of putting them down, but rather to show the love, care and type of relationship that he had with them. He also called them little children because they were very young in their Godly faith. Just as a hen nurtures her chicks, so too, Pastor John was nurturing his new converts and leading them to live the BEST LIFE YET.
I love the fact that Pastor John was realistic. He recognized that since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, each person born was born into a sinful nature. Therefore, in the latter part of 1st John 2:1, he says, And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Does that mean that we should habitually sin and then ask God for forgiveness and sin and ask for forgiveness REPEATEDLY? Of course not! True God followers should learn from their mistakes and aim to be better. Pastor John recognized that because we lived in the flesh, we were prone at times to sin in word, in thought and in deed and reminds us that WE CAN ALWAYS GO TO GOD FOR FORGIVENESS and then move on and SUCCEED!
Don't let your sins and mistakes of the PAST keep you back from your destiny. Stop thinking and worrying about your past and your mistakes. A bright future is ahead for you. Ask God for forgiveness right now and maybe you may have to ask someone to forgive you for the WRONG you did to them and then just MOVE ON TO VICTORY! Even if they don't accept your apology, you would have done the RIGHT and PEACEABLE thing.
Don't give up! Hope is definitely ahead!
